Global style guide, logo, environmental design for all events surrounding the KCA weekend, orange carpet and all collateral materials for Nickelodeons Kids’ Choice Awards 2014, hosted by Mark Wahlberg
(Who def needed a better hair cut at the time, am I right ladies?!)
LETS GO WILD! THIS IS MY FAVORITE KCA OF ALL TIMES. Everything I love in life is in this guide. Gold chains, wild animals, fake nails, exotic prints and patterns galore, I could go on and on. And on.
I mean we made the entry to the Santa Monica Pier a giant inflatable tiger mouth with a gold tooth. WHAT! IS THIS REAL LIFE?
FUN FACT:
This guide is loosely based on a previous birthday party of mine in 2013 (one of the infamous Jumpsuit Jumpoffs (google it) My theme for that party was Welcome to the Jungle-so when i say loosely I mean we pretty much recreated the Jumpoff at KCA 2014, only with a slightly bigger budget.
We pitched a board of it and somehow it f*cking made it to the end. DREAMS DO BECOME REAL GUYS. After that happened I knew i could safely leave Nickelodeon. My work here is done! MIKE DROP ( well ok they also sponsored my green card but still)
Somebody asked if we based it on the Katy Perry video Roar. Bish please! that vid came out months after my party.
Also, the casual tiger jumpsuit I’m wearing on the ABOUT page was custom made for the KCA orange carpet, with hopes of ending up in the background footage on E!

Booth designs and collateral materials for the Discovery licensing show 2018 in Vegas. The booth came out JAWSOME, as did our time in Vegas.
The shark bench is based on the largest great white known to man, (female of course)
For our conference room we went with a green tropical vibe so people felt like their meeting took place in the open air jungle. Because the licensing show floor is basically a concrete jungle right, It’s rough out there.
We also debuted our Shark Week x The Rodnik Band fashion collabo (an amazing UK based designer and pop artist)

Basically I want every single item from the line, but employee discount only takes you so far.
ROLE: Design Director (but not much to do except baby sit on this project. The patterns are so fun yet simple, the combinations are endless. The logo and the shark head was a struggle though, but we finally got it where we wanted it)
Pharrell’s birthday at Cipriani NYC (Wall Street) Bikini Bottom themed party hosted by Patrick Star. DJ Qtip on the turn tables up in the lifeguard tower. Yeah it was lit. Except when the cake lady spelled Pharrell’s name wrong.

Global style guide, logo environmental design for all events surrounding the KCA weekend,, orange carpet and collateral materials for Nickelodeons Kids’ Choice Awards 2014, hosted by Nick Jonas.
This guide was based on the makers movement that was huge at the time. We wanted it to feel like it had been done by kids and put together outside of the computer with items such as a knitted blimp, cardboard slime and glitter explosions.
Environmental design include (but not limited to) all party locations for the KCA weekend such as Viceroy, Shutters on the beach, Casa del Mar hotels, Barker plane hangar and Santa Monica Pier.
When you scroll down you can see how the awesome nick-On Air team made our graphics come to life on TV, so cute!
FUN FACT:
Every year for KCA I have a custom jumpsuit made based on the style guide (bc one can never brand oneself enough right?!). Ofcourse they are all created by the Brooklyn jumpsuit KWEEEN ButchDiva. As always we do this last minute because who needs sleep anyway. Peep our behind the scenes in last vid. We did a denim spandex onesie with custom patches all over for the orange carpet, and a playful lego jumpsuit for the afterparties, all obviously based on the 2014 “We Made It” theme.

FUN FACTS:
I worked at nickelodeon for 9yrs before we could use any other colors than white and orange in a style guide for the core umbrella brand. CRAZY! Finally in 2013 the multi color floodgates opened. PRAISE BE.

On-Air Style guide for Nickelodeon halloween.
Coolest looking halloween ever. One of my favorite holidays and El Grand Chamaco, that did most of the art for this, is one of my fav 3D illustration artists. Too bad we don’t understand each other. He lives in Mexico and and do not speak Spanish. I had to get one of my Jr. designers to translate my art direction on our first call. Thank god he barely needs any direction, he just makes cool fun sh*t as you can see.

Mini style guide for use on apparel and home goods for the Discovery #MINDBLOWN brand.
Did you know that crocodiles swallow stones to help them digest? Me neither! But these are these are the kind of things you learn while working at the Discovery Channel.
So we took these really funny and educational facts and turned them into art for apparel and accessories. . Genius! That paired with Discovery being an educational brand made for a great fit.
As you can see the illustrations speak for themselves. Sometimes you gotta make your job easy and all you need to do is to is to hire someone dope. The art is so funny and sooooo cute! Dave Arcade killed it (now if he could only stay on deadlines…)
We also incorporated the Discovery logo in a seamless way into the art without it feeling forced for some extra branding. I think we succeeded!
I always try to direct stuff that I want to wear myself or be proud to give to someone else, and these graphics are definitely that!

Mini style guides for apparel and home goods for the Discovery #MINDBLOWN kids brand. The guides have different themes every year, and this year we did space and robots.
We got some amazing illustrators onboard to help refresh these themes that can sometimes feel very generic because they are so commonly used. I love using different style artists for this type of projects so you can get a new fresh take on it.

Style guide, logo, environmental design for all events surrounding the KCS weekend,, orange carpet and collateral materials for the first ever Nickelodeons Kids’ Choice Sports 2014, hosted by Michael Strahan. We also redesigned the famous Nickelodeon blimp to double the size and gave it a dope mohawk haircut (…in the office several times before we got it looking right-YAS KWEEN Jane!)
The show was all sorts of crazy- one lucky kid won 50k for killing the shot in basked ball. World-renowned athlete David Beckham was presented with Kids’ Choice Sports’ first Legend Award, a gold mohawked blimp, for his incredible talent and outstanding sportsmanship on the field. He also got slimed in gold ( much better than a golden shower I assume)

3 mini style guides for apparel and home goods for the show Diesel Brothers on Discovery Channel. We wanted to capture the humorous spirit of the boys and combine it with some gritty graphics.
I learned more about monster trucks than I ever knew I wanted to. But scored some extra point with my Canadian red neck brother in law.

Global style guide, logo, environmental design for all events surrounding the KCA weekend and all collateral materials for Nickelodeons Kids’ Choice Awards 2013 hosted by Josh Duhamel.
We wanted the guide to feel like pop art done by kids. (Kids that obviously got an A in art class) This is how we described it in the guide:
POP GOES POP! Get ready for a visual POW that will blow your mind! For the 2013 Kids’ Choice Awards Style Guide we’ve taken a modern spin on pop art and twisted it up, Nickelodeon style.
Combining real photos with bright, bold backgrounds featuring loud patterns and dynamic, colorful type, the compositions appear to move before your eyes. This guide provides mind-bending backgrounds with a 3-D feel; patterns that blur the lines between where the outfits and accessories end and the backgrounds begin; slime like you’ve never seen; and emphasizes crops that are up close and personal.
It’s bold, it’s bright, it’s in-your-face, it’s Nickelodeon! The 2013 Kids’ Choice Awards Style Guide, TOTALLY RAD!
This year also included a photo shoot to get "kid hands" making fun poses, to composite into the guide. We had to edit out more foul gestures and gang signs than you think.
Environmental design include (but not limited to) all party locations for the KCA weekend such as Viceroy, Shutters on the beach, Casa del Mar hotels, Barker plane hangar and Santa Monica Pier.

Retro psychedelic Inspired pitch for the style guide look of Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2013. We were going for a modern version of a 1960-70s black light poster, with a kaleidoscope feel. Totally normal stuff. I love this look so much I wish they would have let us do it. I feel like my SVP CD thought we were on drugs (we were not) and did not approve. Come on dude!

BEST OF ME - KillerWhale
Don’t sleep on KillerWhale, aka Nathon McIntyre, his voice is cray! Not what you’d expect coming out of that big ass human.
The sound is called Ghetto-electro-pop. As he describes it himself:
I come from the MTV generation and define myself by all of the weird varied musical influences that define that era. KillerWhale is the vehicle for allowing this same musical upbringing to come out of me all at once. My vocal style is equally influenced by heavy metal, hip hop, electronic, rock, punk and pop, but the KillerWhale sound can best be defined as what if Tunde Adebimpe (Tv On The Radio), Corey Glover (Living Color), a futuristic Rick James and Ziggy Stardust met and decided to make an album?
Sounds about right I say.
We shot (my part of the video) in one day in an abandoned warehouse in north Philly, in a very nice neighborhood. HA! Amazing location tho! Photo ops for days.
I look a little sweaty but that may be because I took the greyhound bus there 5 hours earlier straight from Fat Buddha bar, NYC, (where I was on a business trip at the time), but I did my best ok! Also the makeup department in the warehouse wasn’t all that just sayin’. But yeah the close ups leaves something to be desired lets just say that.

WON’T LAY DOWN - WonderKiss (TK Wonder & Kissey) by Tim Okamura
The song is about standing firm in your beliefs no matter the circumstances or difficulty. To not back down from anyone, in particular, when you believe in something so strongly and others (people, the law or government) attempt to persuade you to think differently or tell you your way of thinking is erroneous. -TK Wonder
This video was mostly done in my friend Tims painting studio in Brooklyn and around the block where he lives. He is probably the dopest artist/painter I know. Please look him up, his art is unbelievable. I was lucky enough to be in 2 of his paintings previous to this. When he asked me to play as small role in this female empowerment music video project, directed by him, obviously I said yes. Its like one of his paintings coming to life. Crazy hair and makeup. I also got to wear these insane Edward Scissorhands gloves which we had a lot of fun with. (literally I sometimes cannot deal with myself)
An amazing, inspiring and hilarious day with dope ladies all around (My mom was even there visiting from Sweden. She was very excited Tim taught her how to vape.)
KISS is a Singer, songwriter and producer from Sweden (now based in Brooklyn) JAAA KWEEN!, Rapper, singer and songwriter TK Wonder is nowadays also a famous model and all around influencer, you might have seen her and her equally hot ass twin in some magz and commercials lately.

EYE ON YOU - Kel Spencer Feat. Lydia Caesar
We shot this guerilla style on the block in Brooklyn somewhere. I actually didn’t know Kel before this shoot but he had seen me on social media somewhere (and obvi wanted a fly white girl to be in the video, I mean hello) Anyway, he knew someone working at Nickelodeon (where I worked at the time) and sent this very nice older lady up to my office to vouch for him that he wasn’t a creep trying get ladies in thongs for his so called video. Little did he know I would have done it anyway.
Such a fun day and I love the “hand off the baton” lyrics concept, that was not a thing back then.
FUN FACT: My lil sis was visiting NYC for the first time this weekend. Obviously I took her to Santos Friday night (which was the SH*T back in the day!) We slept maybe 2 hrs before I did this- so I was on my natural vixen sleeping schedule. Kel even gave her a lil cameo- peep her at 1.21 -Canadian housewife Eh! GET IT!
Needless to say it was yet another amazing day in Brooklyn, NY with dope, creative, fun ass people. #I LOVENY

Packaging style guide for Discoverys STEM toy brand #MINDBLOWN. (STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Math.)
BRAND ESSENCE
AUTHENTIC, ACCESSIBLE, INNOVATIVE, SMART FUN, TRANSPORTIVE
So this guide looks A LOT easier than it was to make. It took us a year to complete (and various design firms before we took it in house).
In short our challenge was to create a look based on the video you can see to the right, while also being a functional modular packaging system that spoke to kids and their parents.
Not only did we want the images to relate to the specific products, we also wanted it to be humorous to show that not only are these toys educational, they are also really fun to use.
As if that wasn’t enough of a challenge the kicker was that we could not afford a photoshoot, so we had to make this happen with stock photos only. We also had to get the licencee to buy into it, since they are ultimately the onces using it, and frankly was given a lot to say.
THE STRUGGLE WAS REAL, until one day we finally figured it out! and then it SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! EVERYBODY!
More detail:
The video captures the essence of the Discovery #MB brand by distorting the scale of contrasting elements to the extreme. Through the juxtaposition of images, the video evokes feelings of wonder, humor, irony, and inspiration.
Based on the video, a selection of examples was created for Discovery #MINDBLOWN, as you can see to the right.
The #MINDBLOWN packaging program is a key part of our mission, as it extends the brand into a full range of STEM-related products. This style guide provides everything needed to get the creative process underway. Among the various design elements, surreal image composites will be used to inspire feelings of wonder and curiosity in our young audience.

Production/Events company: Freshwata - If you scroll all the way down you can see a video of how they work with us. We make the art, they make it happen, nobody sleeps. IT’S MAGIC!
ADDITIONAL UNNECESSARY FUN FACTS:
This year was special for many reasons. It was the 25th anniversary (!) of the KCA’s hence the silver look. We got an Emmy. But even more special, my mom and dad came to visit me from Sweden this year and I think it was the first time they understood what I actually do. (and obviously was very impressed I mean hello)
Since it is a kids event naturally there is an open bar which my dad took advantage of to great length. When an SVP asked me to introduce her to my parents I pretended I couldn’t find him. (He was behind me spread out on a white chaise in the Viceroy hotel lobby wearing a light up mohawk wig, holding a drink and asking me in Swedish to take a picture of him) Later on he may have also flipped over a table in the nick presidents vip lounge viking style. But you know what, that room needed some excitement . So yeah needless to say 2012 KCA’s was very special.
RIP I love you dad for always keeping it real.
YES WE CAN!
Style guide for Kids’ Pick the President 2012 on Nickelodeon.
Candidates from both sides of the aisle, answers questions from kids and encourage them to vote in Nickelodeon's mock election. Nickelodeon create videos to educate viewers about each candidate's history, family life and platforms. The videos are overwhelmingly positive and stay away from controversial issues.
And as always when the kids’ vote they get it right. The best election outcome ever happened yet again!!
Oh the good old days.
FUN FACTS:
Only twice have the kids been not correct:
In 2004, kids picked John Kerry over George W. Bush.
In 2016, 53% chose Hillary Clinton and 26% chose Donald Trump.
So I mean….were the kids really wrong?
